The foundational law

Overview

In this lecture you'll learn the one axiom the entire protocol rests on, slowly enough that the rest of the path becomes a matter of reading the same shape at different sizes.

Everything in the protocol rests on a single law: T = Δ × Σ × ₀ × the Coherence Index Γ. Read it as a sequence, not a slogan. Four stages, each one a gate the next depends on.

Reading the four stages

Δ is intent. A real person declares what they are about to do. Without a free, sovereign declaration there is no agency, and without agency there is no causal time at all. This is why the protocol validates outcomes and never people, and why coercion voids coherence by definition: take away freedom and you have removed Δ, and with it T.

Σ is energy: the actual work, the thermodynamic expenditure of doing the thing. Heart-rate variability, sustained attention, cognitive load, behavioural output, the body and mind genuinely spending effort.

₀ is the zero boundary: the moment the work is committed and evidence is irreversibly laid down. Before it, a cycle is open and revisable. After it, the record stands.

Coherence Index Γ is coherence: the measurement of how much of the declared intent the work actually achieved. It is the verdict, and the next lecture is devoted to it.

Why the same law runs at every scale

The axiom is identical at every scale of the system. A single small event obeys it. A sealed cycle obeys it. A whole network of agencies obeys it. The corpus calls the substrate the Fractal Fabric for exactly this reason: micro events compose into seals, seals compose into Heritage Threads, Heritage Threads compose into the Coherence Network, and the same law holds at each level without modification.

That sameness is what makes the substrate sovereign at every scale. The law does not change when you zoom in or out, so no scale can quietly capture the others by changing the rules.

Mechanics

The mechanic is the formula made live. Move the observables and the friction; watch the verdict, the tier class, the ctu emission, and the debt recompute. Multiplication is deliberate: starve one observable and the whole reading collapses.
